$1.5 Million In 6 Months - Case Study

It’s Konrad from DTC Inbox.

Last year we helped one of our clients generate over $1.5 million in extra revenue from their email list in just 6 months.

And today I want to show you how we did this and what you can do to get similar results.

From 0 to $1.5 million in 6 months

Let’s start with some proof:

Now, when we took over, this brand had no email at all.

They had a list of high-quality subscribers - these were either buyers or checkout abandoners.

We divided our action plan into 3 phases:

Phase 1 - Days 1-3

Setting the foundations is more important than anything else - once you have these, it’s easier to improve and optimize later on.

We spent this time focusing on:

  • Initial research.

  • Technical setup.

  • Creating the strategy for list growth, flows and campaigns.

  • The first email drafts to start sending emails asap.

Phase 2 - Days 4-30

You can’t get to the optimization if there’s nothing to optimize.

So this phase was all about launching the entire email funnel.

That meant rolling out pop-up, all the flows and campaigns.

For flows, we launched the regular ones:

  • Welcome flow x2 (based on the customer profile) - 5 emails each

  • Abandoned cart - 5 emails

  • Abandoned checkout - 5 emails

  • Post purchase - 6 emails

  • Browse abandonment - 5 emails

  • Site abandonment - 1 email

  • Window shoppers - 3 emails

  • Replenishment - 3 emails

  • Customer winback - 3 emails

  • 1st purchase anniversary - 3 emails

We’ve also added the basic SMS flows.

With campaigns we started sending 1-2 campaigns per week and then increased the frequency.

That was mainly to warm up the domain and create engaged segments that this brand didn’t have before.

Phase 3 - Days 31+

After the first month we already had a lot of data to analyze and spot opportunities.

We’ve tested a lot of things but the main wins were:

  • Taking pop-up conversion rate from around 3% to over 9% by running 2 tests.

  • Improving flows revenue per recipient by testing angles, formats and order of the emails.

  • Ramping up campaign volume to 3-4 per week while maintaining a45%+ open rate.

  • Scaling SMS to bring in $8.8k in sales in just one month.
