Copy vs. design

Let's settle the debate once and for all.

There seems to be a never ending debate on whether copy or design is more important.

If you’re wondering which one, the short answer is neither one.

What matters the most is your angle - proof below:

Now, let me explain what I mean.

Both design and copy are important.

But it’s 2025 and having the right design structure and branded copy should be the absolute bare minimum.

Even if you have both at a good level, you’re not standing out cause the competition is higher than ever.

What actually drives a significant improvement is the angle of your campaign.

Look at the screenshot above - the difference between our worst and best campaign is $3,200.

And that’s per one campaign only.

So assuming you have your copy and designs nailed down, you must test more angles.

Try different target avatars, run direct A/B/C/D tests, see what works best.

For one of our clients we’ve hit a gold mine angle and did over $2.2k revenue from 1 email where we’ve been averaging $700.

The same copywriter, the same designer, the same email list but a different angle.

Finding these angles is your competitive advantage.

Once you find a few, replicate them every 2-4 weeks. You can’t be doing it too often cause it might get too repetitive.

And remember - it won’t happen overnight. It might take you months to find “the one” that prints cash.

But once you do it, it’ll make up for all that time.
