Your emails don't perform?

Here's what to change.

Today we’ll do a bit of troubleshooting.

I’ll show you what to do if your emails don’t perform and how to make email print for you as a channel.

Fix your deliverability

This one might seem obvious but it’s not always the case.

If your emails underperform, the first thing you need to look at is your open rate.

If it’s below 30/40%, you’ve got a problem.

Another (technically) obvious advice, I know.

But the truth is that solid email marketing is built on foundations.

Knowing your audience is one of those critical aspects that just have to be done.

And you need to be continuously doing it.

You must know your target customers’:

  • Their fears, frustrations, goals and wants.

  • Solutions they tried (that didn't work).

  • Core beliefs and objections.

  • Language they use.

These are just some basics but they will help you create content that converts and resonates with your audience on a deep level.

After you have your research done properly, there’s just one thing left.

Create damn good emails

You need to face this - email works for hundreds of thousands of brands across the globe.

If it doesn’t work just for you, your one single brand, do you really think it’s broken?

I believe people should treat emails as ads.

If Meta ads don’t perform for your brand, you won’t say they are a scam that works only for lucky people (or at least I hope you won’t).

Same with email.

Your email list can be a money printer but you need to put some time and effort into it.

Implement what you learned from your research, find top brands on milled.com or mailboard.com, and start testing angles.

You can even start with some that currently work for our clients:

  • Myth buster.

  • FAQs.

  • How does it work/how do you use the product?

  • Product guide (not sure what to choose? Try X!).

  • Reviews and authority mentions.

And there are dozens of other angles/email ideas that work.

Improve your copy, sharpen your designs and your emails will start performing - it’s inevitable.
